The course is broken down into four separate sessions, held live and lasting for 90 minutes each. You can either call in for the live sessions, or download the entire course to study at whatever time suits you best.

Prior to instructing you on how to create an effective Test Protocol, one of our own analysts will review the page of your choice, and give advice on what to test first, and how.

The Certification Curriculum Includes:

Session 1: Test Design

What you choose to test is a core element in Split Testing success.

The sequence of what you test is also important, because of the compounding effect of the improvements you make. (In other words, you'll want to first test and improve those areas that give you the greatest increase in ROI.)

  • Know where to look for the "low-hanging fruit".
  • Develop instincts about pages and page elements where small changes can yield major gains.
  • Understand how testing the right elements can leverage the performance of the entire site.

This first session builds a strong foundation, giving you the understanding and insights you need in order to test in ways that will yield the most powerful results.

Session 2: Testing Methods and Processes

This session focuses on how to establish testing capabilities for your company or organization.

Learn the details of proper testing methods, and how to put in place the processes to start testing and gathering accurate results.

  • Learn how to write up a Test Protocol for your company. (Working with the comments on your test page from one of our analysts.)
  • Find out how many visitors you need to get a statistically significant result.
  • Understand the importance of the timing of your test, and the required interval between beginning and end.

In this session you will learn the nuts, bolts and basic math of effective, accurate web page testing.

Session 3: Testing Platforms — In-house, or Third-Party?

In this session we'll look at the logistics of establishing the right platform, and including the right people in the process.

  • Should you build a testing platform on your own servers?
  • Or should you outsource your testing to an outside supplier?
  • What are the options when outsourcing? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
  • How are you going to collect, present and disseminate your results?
  • And how are you going to apply what you have learned?
  • Who needs to be on the team? Who needs to buy in on your testing program in order to ensure its success?

Session 4: Test Results Interpretation

In a sense, the first three sessions are the easy part. It's a matter of learning how to effectively run a Split Testing program. You can learn it, step by step.

The interpretation of the results can be a little harder.

For instance, if you find that a change to an offer page results in a 22% increase in inquiries, should you automatically implement that change? (Not necessarily.)

If a test bombs and you get a minus 50% response compared to the original page, should you discard the test page and start over? (Perhaps not.)

When you achieve a surprising test result from a third level page on your site, should you apply what you have learned to other pages, even the home page? (Maybe.)

The analysis and interpretation of test results can be a complex process.

Certification will be awarded to those who successfully complete the exam after all four sessions.

After completion of all four sessions, you will take an exam and be graded. On successful completion of the exam, you will receive a certificate identifying you as a Certified In A/B Split Testing.

The examination will include actually running a test through the Test Protocol you create in Session Two.

In other words, the exam isn't just academic, but also includes the practical application of what you have learned.

If you don't pass the test the first time, you will have the opportunity to take it again for a small fee.
